Life naturally moves in cycles, just like the moon. Sometimes we’re expanding and moving forward with ease… and sometimes we’re invited into a pause.
That pause isn’t a punishment.
It’s a recalibration.
A quiet moment to step back, breathe, and re-evaluate what actually matters to you. A chance to check in and make sure you're still on the path that feels true for your heart and soul.
But let’s be honest: it can also be frustrating as all heck when nothing seems to move.
If you’ve been in that space, the New Moon brings a powerful opportunity. This lunar phase is all about new beginnings, clarity, and intention-setting — the perfect moment to shed what no longer serves you and invite in what you deeply desire.
Getting Clear: A Simple “Want vs. Don’t Want” Reflection
Clarity doesn’t need to be complicated.
Here’s a gentle exercise that helps bring everything swirling inside of you out onto the page, where you can actually see it.
You’ll need:
One piece of paper (A4 works beautifully)
A pen
A quiet moment
Step 1 — Fold the paper in half.
Step 2 — At the top of one side, write:
“What I really want.”
Step 3 — At the top of the other side, write:
“What I don’t want.”
Often, it’s easier to start with what you don’t want — the things that drain you, overwhelm you, or no longer align with who you’re becoming. And from there, the clarity of what you do want begins to shine through.
Be honest. Be raw. This isn’t for anyone else’s eyes but yours.
When you write the list of what you do want, focus on what lights you up.
Not your partner.
Not your kids.
Not your boss or your neighbours.
Just you.
This is about reconnecting with the parts of yourself that get buried under responsibility, expectation, and “shoulds.”
When you’re finished, check in with yourself:
Do you feel lighter now that everything is out of your head and onto the page?
Has the fog lifted even slightly?
Is there more space inside you?
If not, write more. Let it spill out.
Then look gently at where you can take action — tiny, meaningful steps that guide you back to yourself.
You don’t need to reinvent your life overnight.
You simply need to choose small acts that realign you with who you truly are.
A New Moon Ritual for Reconnection & Clarity
The New Moon is a beautiful moment to anchor what you’ve just discovered.
Here’s a ritual you can try tonight or anytime this week.
1. Create a Sacred Space
Light a candle.
Sit somewhere quiet.
Take a few slow, mindful breaths.
Let your body soften and invite your mind to unclench.
2. Place Your “Want vs. Don’t Want” List in Front of You
Read it slowly, allowing each line to settle into your awareness.
3. Release What No Longer Serves
On the “Don’t Want” side:
Fold it inward.
You can tear it up, bury it in the garden, or burn it safely in a fireproof bowl.
As you release it, say softly:
“I let go of what no longer aligns with who I am becoming.”
Let your body feel that release.
4. Activate What You DO Want
Hold the “What I really want” list against your heart.
Breathe deeply.
Repeat:
“I welcome what lights me up. I choose what nourishes my soul.”
Visualise your intentions like seeds in fertile soil — quiet, powerful, ready to grow.
5. Close with Gratitude
Thank your guides, your intuition, your heart, and the moon.
Then place your “want” list somewhere safe — your journal, altar, bedside table — as a reminder of your direction.
