‘Ambition is enthusiasm with a purpose’ ~ Frank Tyger
AMBITION:
Noun
A strong desire to do or achieve something.
I grew up in a household, an era, where to be ambitious was found ‘unattractive’. To the point where even trying to remember the word is a challenge thanks to the negative connotations it was gifted by those around me.
But is it really?
Is it ‘unattractive’ to want to better yourself?
Is it ‘unattractive’ to have a strong desire to attain, do or achieve something?
What if that something is better health?
What if that something is to rise above poverty?
What if that something is to remove yourself from a toxic relationship?
What if that something better is simply, better??
If there is no ambition there is no change, and there only a few things in life that are a certainty and change is one of them.
Ambition is like the rudder steering us in the direction we wish to go, rather than being pushed around like a piece of flotsam in a sometimes angry ocean.
What if we interchanged the word ‘ambition’ with intention?
Intentions are powerful and their importance is becoming more and more relevant.
Setting an intention is focusing your energy in a direction that you desire to go.
We set intentions all the time, consciously or unconsciously.
Every time you begin a statement with ‘I am…’ you are focusing your energy, aka setting your intention.
How often do you hear yourself saying “I am tired” or “I am broke” or “I am stressed” or “I am so busy” or…. you get the picture.
What would your world look like if you consciously chose your words, your intentions?
What transformation could you witness, up close and personal, if you remembered the incredible power held within the words you use each and every day?
Embrace ambition, because you are so very worthy.
Embrace the power of intention and intentional speech, because you are so very deserving of your own time, your own effort, your own regard and certainly your own love.
Create space in your life to ponder what it is you truly desire…
Ask yourself the question, what is it you truly wish to achieve?
And let your ambition, your intention, light your world up like fireworks on the 4th of July!!
